Here we have all sets stacked together. They weigh 12.4 lbs / 5.62 kgs together which cost me about 8k on shipping alone. I won an auction for their original Comiket pricing: 6k each. Definitely the most expensive package I've received yet.
Let's open the first box!
After the lid has been removed.
This was on top, unfortunately the photo is a bit blurry. My guess is that the text on the side is listing the contents of the box.
Wow, this is a beautiful picture. The photo doesn't do it justice, because I took it at a slight angle. I could see myself framing this one.
Next up, a few goodies: an ID card, a rubber cellphone strap and a piece of film. How odd that it shows Archer on film. The ID card is just like a real card, except for the paper backside where you could write more information.
What is this...?
I don't know what it's called, but you can put a picture inside, protected by a plastic sheet.
I tried to put in the A4 picture, but it doesn't look very good because of the large upper border.
And finally, the main item. A large key animation artbook containing key animation sketches from episodes 0 and 1. Only from Rin of course.
Hey, here we have instructions for the cardboard frame I showed before. Uhh, I can't read it, but the pictures make it seem that you should cut out a page and slide it in the frame. I'm definitely NOT going to damage this artbook, so that is out of the question. There are no loose sheets in this book.
Here we have a single page that I liked. If you want to see more, I suggest you buy this set. ;) You should know what to expect if you saw the first two episodes.
The book is great, but it has two obvious downsides. Firstly, it is slightly too BIG. I'm not kidding! It doesn't fit in the box so it is crammed in and slightly bent upwards on the sides. Fortunately there's no damage once you take it out, but I'm not putting it back in that box! Secondly, every other page is blank. Sure, there is a bit of information about the cut on the other page, but since I can't read Japanese I can skip half of the book. There is more than enough to be satisfied with, however.
The next book! I promise to keep it short from now on.
A lovely picture.
Some cool stuff. ...HEY! I already had that ID card in Rin's set! First I thought they made a mistake, but then I realised that servants don't have an ID card. Still, it would've been more fun than having two cards of Rin and Shirou.
I was glad that the piece of film featured Rin. A double error or intended?
The key animation artbook.
One nice page, but there's plenty more! This book is significantly bigger than Rin's, because of the amazing fights agains Lancer and Saber.
The third set features Shirou, everybody's favourite protagonist. ;)
For those who are wondering: this book has about as many pages as Rin's. A friend on MFC asked me if there were any pages featuring Illya. Alas, the answer is no as she didn't make an appearance in the first two episodes. This book is primarily about Shiro, and sometimes you see side characters like Taiga and Sakura.
And finally... Saber!
As you might know, Saber does not have much screentime in the first two episodes. This means that this book is significantly SMALLER than the other books. I'd say it has about half the pages Archer has. That is a bit disappointing, but if Saber's your favourite character you should still find enough to your liking.
I'm happy with this purchase. However, if they would've sold the animation books separately I probably would've skipped the rest of the goodies. I'm curious what Ufotable will sell at the next Comiket, which will be after the conclusion of the second season.
